Baked Butter Garlic Chicken Recipe
Who isn’t always looking for a simple meal that’s easy to make and needs very little supervision and just a handful of ingredients?
Enter the BBG Chicken or Baked Butter Garlic Chicken.
This is a recipe that I got from a foodie friend of mine who also does reviews. It’s so easy to make but it tastes so sophisticated. Your family will surely be impressed when you serve this to them. It’s easy enough to prepare as a weekday meal but it can also be spruced up to be served with a creamy mash, soup, salad or roasted veggies for a special occasion.
Let’s try it, shall we?
INGREDIENTS
500g choice cut chicken (I use drumsticks, thighs or leg quarters but you can use just about any part you like)
30-50 cloves garlic (The quantity is really based on preference. Jus make sure the garlic is spread evenly across the bottom of your baking pan)
EVOO
salt and pepper
2 tbsp. liquid seasoning (Maggi Savor or Knorr)
2 tbsp. Italian herbs (I like oregano and basil but you can also use rosemary and thyme)
1 stick salted butter or about half a cup
PROCEDURE
- Peel your garlic and line the bottom of your baking pan with the cloves. Drizzle with EVOO and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Coat your chicken evenly with the liquid seasoning and a tbsp. of the Italian herbs. Arrange in one layer on top of your garlic.
- Top your chicken pieces with the butter. You don’t need to spread the butter, just dab small knobs on top of the chicken evenly. Sprinkle the rest of your herbs and get ready to bake!
- Pre-heat your over to 180 degrees Celsius and bake your chicken. Check after 30 mins. I usually don’t turn it anymore but at this point you can turn your chicken then raise the temp to 200C to get a crispy skin. Bake for another 20 mins if using drumsticks and 30 mins if using thighs/leg quarters.
- Spoon the melted butter and softened garlic on top of your chicken before serving.
Your chicken should come out sizzling and very aromatic. Trust me, at the halfway point, your whole household will be flocking to y our kitchen! Mouthwatering!
This dish goes well with steamed rice or mashed potatoes.
