What's Your ALIBI? 5 Reasons Why You Need To Visit This Speakeasy in QC
As a Quezon City resident, I still go all the way to Makati or BGC on my nights out. Why? The general vibe, the restaurants and the bars there seem to be more up my alley. However, I have recently been rediscovering the options that my city has to offer. After all, the traffic is making it less and less feasible to go the distance.
One of my recent discoveries is ALIBI, a hidden bar that incidentally, sits just below GEONBAE MODERN KOREAN BAR & GRILL in Sct. Delgado. We checked out the bar after a sumptuous unlimited KBBQ meal upstairs. While Alibi is primarily a bar, the food there is also on point. Let me give you five reasons why you should visit:
1. AKLAN OYSTERS
Alibi has some juicy, plump oysters flown in fresh from Aklan every Thursday. They are available until the weekend until supplies last. Come over as soon as you can to make sure you catch them at their freshest. At just Php50 a piece, you can opt to have them shucked and served fresh or topped with miso or pesto. I can keep on describing them but just have a look at these beauties to see just how amazing they are:
2. OYSTER SISIG
Since they have fantastic oysters here, don’t miss out on the sisig version. At only Php290, it’s cheaper than the famous one in Boracay. Not to mention that you don’t need to fly and pay for accommodations on the island. They also have the classic pork sisig here if you’re more into that.Alibi
3. AFFORDABLE BUT WELL-MADE COCKTAILS
You’re not confined to just the usual vodka tonic and rum coke here. The bartender at Alibi makes proper craft cocktails. At an average of just Php145 a pop, you are definitely getting your money’s worth. Forget those 500-peso cocktails in BGC that does way too much damage to your wallet before you even get a kick.
4. YOUNG, HIP VIBE
Poblacion is the go-to place for the young, trendy set. Let them have their fun in Pobla while you chill in a more relaxed environment here in Alibi. It does have that edgy, young vibe without the stuffy, dilapidated look of many Pobla bars. When I was there, it didn’t seem like the general masses have discovered it yet. That means you can enjoy a nice comfortable drink with your squad in a not-so-tita place.
5. GREAT MENU
Apart from the oysters, Alibi also offers a wide selection of other food items. The menu is not large but most bases are covered. If you’re not up for unlimited KBBQ or you’re simply the type that wants to go to one place for both dinner and drinks, Alibi is a good option. I’m a big fan of the baby back ribs but there’s so much more you can order here!
Visit Alibi along Sct. Delgado just underneath GEONBAE. Remember, it’s a speakeasy so don’t expect to find it so easily.
