Seafood Bucket Buffet at High Street Cafe, Shangri-la at the Fort
High Street Cafe at Shangri-la at the Fort has an exciting new dinner buffet menu! Aside from your usual favorite stations featuring cuisines from around the world, you can now grab bucketfuls of seafood! Have them cooked to your liking with a variety of flavors!
As I walked into the massive restaurant, I was immediately greeted by pails of fresh ocean treasures
The clams were as big as my palm! They also had some local crayfish that were as big as my face! I was feeling sad to be missing out on the European crayfish season but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I can have a crayfish party right here!
Of course, you will also find some black mussels and the usual crabs and shrimps.
Fill your bucket (or buckets, no one will judge you) and choose a flavor or sauce. You can have your seafood cooked with the usual garlic butter or bring up the heat with szechuan sauce. You can also go for more oriental flavors with the sweet and sour and kung pao sauce. If you prefer simple, subtle flavors, just opt for some salt, pepper and chili.
Because the people at High Street Cafe know that you can never have too much seafood, they are also offering fresh DIY poke bowls!
Grab some slices of raw tuna or salmon and mix them up with an array of vegetables and japanese-inspired sauces. A refreshing, light and healthy choice!
Since we are on the subject of seafood, let me give a shout out to the paella that they serve here. I have been trying paella at several restaurants in Manila and they are almost always lacking. Having lived briefly in Spain, I’m very particular with my paella. I’m really happy with the flavors on this one. There’s a subtle, smoky flavor from the broth and the distinct yellow tinge from the saffron gave the paella an authentic look. They used arborio rice instead of bomba rice but that’s a perfectly good substitute. They didn’t scrimp on the toppings either. Love it!
Moving on to other things (this is a buffet after all), I loved the lamb chops and the duck. The laksa was a big hit at our table as well!
If only my stomach could hold more food! I washed everything down with a crisp white wine sangria from the rolling bar. Very refreshing!
Shall I tell you about the desserts? Why don’t you just have a look at the photos below. I forgot to take a pic of the molten lava cake but trust me when I say that it happily found a home in my tummy.
I can’t wait to come back to try the rest of the spread!
