Nobu Hotel Manila: Buffet Breakfast With a Twist

I recently stayed at the Nobu Hotel Manila for a birthday staycation. I invited a few friends over for dinner, drinks and a horror flick before calling it a night.

My friend Aurie stayed with me overnight and we headed down for breakfast at the Nobu Restaurant. It was actually more like brunch since we went down closer to 10 a.m. after a late night.

Nevertheless, we were presented with all the basic breakfast offerings plus a few extras and a Japanese twist. The spread had everything you would expect: an array of breads, jams and spreads alongside a selection of fresh fruits.

No self-respecting breakfast should be left without a basket full of freshly baked croissants. The ones here were perfectly buttery and crispy.

Because this is breakfast, there shouldn’t be a shortage of carbs. Apart from the wide selection of breads and pastries, They have your usual garlic fried rice and potatoes.

You can also opt to get your grains in cereal form:

Naturally, they have stacks of bacon. I was too excited to eat so I forgot to photograph them. There is also an egg station where you can have your omelette custom made. Beside it, there’s a pancake and waffle station:

Now, with all the basics covered, here are some Japanese twists. Behind the sushi bar, there are chefs rolling away making maki rolls for breakfast.

On the carb department, the Japanese twist comes from some yakisoba:

I was very happy to see that they also had my favorite Japanese snack, the okonomiyaki. This savory Japanese pancake is a very popular street snack and I grab one every chance I get when I’m in Japan.

My favorite was the Japanese style French Toast which had a creamy custard filling.

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience and I only wish I had room to try more items on the spread.

Pardon the photos since many of them were screen grabs from a video that I took. Here’s a quick video showing our hotel room and all the fun we had during my birthday staycation:
