Valentine's Day Ideas: Enjoy His and Her Meals at 22 Prime Discovery Suites Manila
Every year, we are faced with the challenge of making Valentine’s Day more special with our significant other. This year, I discovered a list of treats offered by Discovery Suites Manila.
- XOXO His and Her Valentine’s Day Set Menu at 22 Prime Steakhouse: (Php1,850 nett per person includes a 3-course meal) I know that the menu was designed to be “His and Hers” but our friends at 22 Prime assured me that you can mix and match the menu items according to your preference. Better yet, you can order both sets and share them with your date. I personally preferred the option of sharing because every item could not be missed!
His Menu:
The Lentil and Spinach Soup is a hefty and savory opening to this set. The thick soup feels like a warm hug on a cold day. The starchy texture of the lentils makes this soup very substantial. It may look like the portions are daintily presented but I can assure you, these are hefty servings.
The main course for the “His” menu is a double-thickness Sous Vide Fillet Mignon steak. This cut is very unforgiving because of the lean meat but they really know how to make their steaks at 22 Prime. The meat was perfectly seared on the outside and beautifully pink in the center. It was also seasoned perfectly well. The accompanying sweet corn puree, wilted greens, mushrooms and salsa verde added richness and moisture to the already very juicy steak.
Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts. I was skeptical after seeing that the chefs at 22 Prime decided to re-imagine this dish. Instead of the usual preparation, their tiramisu was served as a roll. Needless to say, just one bite turned me into a believer! Don’t knock it until you try it!
Her menu:
Instead of a soup, this set starts with a warm vegetable salad. I know it’s a salad but the grilled vegetables are also very substantial and flavorful.
The main protein in this set is a Salmon Roulade. Sitting beside a Fillet Mignon, I gravitate towards the meat. However, I was pleasantly surprised to say that this salmon dish is my favorite among the many courses. (Yes, I tasted them all). The truffle sauce that came with it really connected with my palate.
Dessert for this set came in the form of a White Chocolate Mousse. This was lighter than the usual mousse. That was a good thing since at this point, I was already full to the brim. The pretty heart shape also gives a homage to the romantic holiday.
Here’s a look at my plate with both the main proteins. Like I said, no one’s stopping you from sharing. These are half servings but are already so filling. Everything was so decadent and flavorful!
There’s an option to get the Premium Package which goes for Php5,500 nett for 2. This includes two set meals, a choice of 2 glasses of wine or 2 bottles of Hoegaarden White beer. On top of that, the lady gets a special bouquet of flowers and a box of pralines. (Ok, Ok, you can share the pralines with the man in your life too.) The special XOXO Valentine’s Menu is available from Feb. 12-28 at 22 Prime.
2. Drink, Play, Love: If you’re looking for something other than a sit down dinner with your significant other, there are other options. Perhaps you just want to go out with some friends if you’re single and ready to mingle? The 36th floor garden at Discovery Suites will be the venue for unlimited canapes and cocktails on Feb. 14 and 15. Festivities start from 6:00 pm and tickets go for Php950 nett per person.
3. Helipad Dinner: If you really want to go extra for your date this year, why don’t you grab one of the very limited slots for a Valentine’s dinner at the Discovery suites helipad? On Feb. 14 and 15, a four-course meal will be served to only six lucky couples per night. The menu includes:
Soup: Seafood Volute
Salad: Mackerel Fish Carpaccio and Spanner Crab Fritters
Mains: Surf and Turf—Sous Vide Fillet Mignon and Grilled Selva Prawns
Dessert: Fresh Strawberry Soup for dessert.
This Helipad Dinner Date is offered at PHP 15,000 nett for 2, inclusive of the 4-course meal and a bottle of wine and cheese platter. Meanwhile, a special offer of PHP 20,000 nett for 2 includes a night’s stay in a One Bedroom Suite, inclusive of breakfast buffet for 2.
