No Need to go to Binondo for Amazing Chinese Food, King Chef Dimsum Kitchen is now Open at SM North Edsa
After seeing the photo above, you must surely be craving for Chinese food. If not, you must be made of stone. This amazing spread is just a sampler of some of the amazing dishes that are on offer at KING CHEF DIMSUM KITCHEN.
This restaurant is one of the latest additions to the growing number of dining destinations at the ground level of The Block in SM North Edsa. As the name suggests, their specialty is dimsum.
While they offer all the usual dimsum classics that can be seen in every other Chinese restaurant, they also have some interesting innovations. Listed as their Chef’s recommendations, one can sample dishes that go beyond your usual siomai, hakaw and spring rolls.

Amongst the chef’s recommendations, the Taro Garlic Siomai stood out for me. I’m a sucker for anything with a distinct garlic flavor and this really hits the spot.
The shallot stuffed buns remind me of similar round cakes that are very popular in Thailand and Cambodia. They are flavorful and quite filling so it’s always a good idea to come with a group so you can share and sample as many things as possible.
Speaking of sharing, Smart Diner Card holders have access to exclusive platters which are ideal for groups. The Ultimate Barkada Platter and the Ultimate Hofan Set may be availed by loyal customers who posses the Smart Diner Card. Ask your server about it when you come to check the place out. There are several deals and discounts that can be availed once you become a card holder.
My personal favorite among all the dishes that I tried are the Crispy Duck Wantons. You can see them pictured above as part of the Ultimate Hofan Set. However, you can also order the round parcels of goodness a la carte. Imagine asado siopao filling stuffed inside wanton wrappers and deep-fried to perfection. That’s what this dish reminds me of. It’s made even better by the fact that instead of barbecued pork, they use duck meat. What a treat!
If you’re here for lunch or dinner and having loads of dimsum just doesn’t cut it for you, don’t worry. The restaurant also offers rice and hot dishes that are hefty enough for a full meal. They also offer noodles and other filling Chinese favorites.
Whether you’re looking for familiar dimsum favorites or new things to try, you will surely find something here. Come for a snack or a full meal but always come hungry. The prices are affordable and the options are many.
